The semi-automated storage and distribution terminal at Mina Al Fahal managed by Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) in partnership with Al Maha Petroleum Products Company marked the 19th uninterrupted year without Loss Time Injury (LTI). A remarkable milestone for a critical area of operations which was previously managed by BP, the company’s vigilant and holistic culture of safety and sustainability has authenticated its prominence in the industry which continues to be successfully promoted beyond its walls.
The nature of the terminal’s 24 hour product handling, loading activities in addition to people and vehicular traffic causes concern as an uncompromising safety risk. Commenting on the new performance milestone, Faisal Al Shanfari, General Manager of Operations, Engineering and HSSE expressed, “We value HSSE as a vital business pursuit that is fundamental to the success of our company. After 19 years, omanoil shows neither complacency nor contentment and will remain focused on the unified philosophy of preserving and enhancing the environment in which we operate.”
omanoil is celebrating this milestone guardedly and will continue to demand and epitomize excellence in implementing responsible approaches. Al Shanfari credits the company’s safety record to ongoing investments in innovation, training, equipment and technology.
All staff and contractors adhere to a diligent and cautious working behavior in an environment of exercised safety measures. Vinod Kumar, JV Terminal Operations Manager says, “All staff are commended for their individual efforts in keeping and going beyond the standards of safety. It is an unremitting challenge but these nineteen years are a tribute to their vigilance, responsiveness and professionalism, and to the company’s infallible safety culture.”
In raising industry benchmarks, omanoil’s undisputed HSSE reputation is resolute. The company has in place an unwavering scheme to establish emerging methods in advancing the levels of operational and environmental excellence in accordance with best international practices and HSE standards.
