Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) celebrated the conclusion of its 'Tmakon' programme with a graduation ceremony of 50 shortlisted Omani freelancers held under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Nasr bin Amer Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour. Launched in 2023 in partnership with the Youth Center, Tmakon equipped 300 young Omani freelancers in different fields with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to create and innovate and run a business successfully.
"The completion of our Tmakon programme marks a significant step in empowering the next generation of business leaders, innovators and visionary entrepreneurs. OOMCO is delighted by these achievements and to be part of their future success," said Khamis Al Shuaibi, General Manager Shared Services at Oman Oil Marketing Company. "We recognize the important role that the next generation will play in the development and diversification of our national economy and engaging and supporting creative Omani youth to fulfil their potential will have a profound positive impact across our communities. We are proud of the accomplishments of our graduates and look forward to witnessing their continued success in the years to come."
The year-long Tmakon programme worked with Omani freelancers with a track record of good performance, potential entrepreneurs with unique business ideas and emerging Omani start-ups with viable project proposals. The programme was managed by the Youth Center, an incubator that aims to support young people in recognizing their talent, developing, and honing their skill sets, and unleashing their original thinking.
Tmakon is part of the ‘Empower’ social responsibility programme and reflects OOMCO's dedication to CSR and its ongoing contributions to the development of Oman's workforce. SME development is one of Oman Oil Marketing Company’s main CSR pillars, and by investing in the professional growth of young talents, OOMCO aims to build a skilled and knowledgeable workforce that will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the energy sector in the Sultanate.
Further initiatives includes the Experience Hub, which aims to develop diverse essential skills and relevant experiences in partnership with the Ministry of Labor to assist students during their university studies.
