Muscat, 2 June 2020 – Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) has announced the appoint-ment of its new Chairman, Hilal Al Kharusi. Al Kharusi, who has 28 years of experience in the energy sector, including various executive positions, has been credited with implementing a number of domestic and international growth strategies across the Sultanate’s energy value chain, as well as playing a leading role in the clean energy domain. In his new role, he is antici-pated along with the Board to drive Oman Oil Marketing Company into a new chapter of its transformational roadmap and complete its vision to become the most customer-centric Mar-keter in GCC while reaching its goal to be among the top 5 fuel marketers by market share in the GCC region.

Holding a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Henley Management College, UK, and a BSc Honors in Geology and Economic Geography from Bedfordshire University, UK, Al Kharusi brings a wealth of experience with almost three decades in the industry. During this time, he has held key management positions in energy companies both in Oman and abroad. He has been responsible for the development and delivery of large-scale domestic businesses in Oman covering refining and petrochemicals, infrastructure, shipping, trading, power and utili-ties, mining and metals as well as oil and gas, building strong relationships at ministerial levels in the GCC, Asia and Europe. He has also steered various business sectors as Chairman of the Boards and as Director.
Oman Oil Marketing Company is currently pursuing an ambitious growth plan, which sees the company expand its footprint outside of Oman, diversify its revenue streams, manage big in-vestments and propel economic sustainability in the Sultanate. Its 2025 roadmap includes an objective to acquire over 40% of the Oman fuel market, increase its distribution of lubricants inside and outside Oman and broaden its network of service stations while continuously inno-vating in Marketing and Digital for the benefit of its customers.
