Keeping up with digital transformation and to meet the growing demand of easy-to-use digital payments, Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) is now offering an enhanced process using the e-payment App ‘Thawani’ at its service stations across the Sultanate. The move follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thawani Technologies LLC. Customers will enjoy a full digital experience through an advanced integration between the fuel dispensers and Thawani App allowing them to get payment notification on their mobile phones directly without scanning any QR codes which will provide a delightful experience to the customers while fueling at OOMCO.
The agreement comes after a successful pilot project in 2018 at 4 OOMCO service stations. The smart solution complies with the Central Bank of Oman’s regulations as well as international PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) for data integrity and secure encryption. To use the mobile payment App, users can have it downloaded on their smartphones and link their vehicles plate numbers to their Thawani account.
The Chief Executive Officer of Oman Oil Marketing Company said, “The first of its kind in the Sultanate, ‘Thawani’ e-payment platform is part of our strategy to provide a delightful experience for our customers at all times. Our aim is to transform the industry with our innovative products and provide convenient alternatives for everyday transactions.”
