Led by CEO David Kalife and its senior management team, Oman Oil Marketing Company organized a sprout planting staff ceremony in solidarity with million around the world during World Environment Day. Seeking to connect its employees with nature, participants from every department within the company were encouraged to go green, save energy and incorporate environmentally-friendly practices into their daily lives. Officially registered with the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), the ceremony followed the global #WithNature campaign, which connected people across the globe through over 1,700 events across more than 100 countries.
The event joins a long list of sustainable practices adopted by the company in recent years to protect the environment. This includes being receiving the EMS ISO14001:2015 certification, which manages its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to greater sustainability.
World Environment Day was designated 43 years ago by the United Nations, as a means to encourage people throughout the world to care for the environment, and raise awareness on a number of issues including climate change, biodiversity, marine pollution, wildlife protection and sustainable consumption.
