In partnership with Oman Green Awards, Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) honored visionary corporations and individuals who have set the country’s environmental benchmark with pioneering conservation practices. The company was also presented with the ‘Green Footprint Award’ in recognition of adopting green technologies across its operations to reduce carbon emissions and contributing to the national effort. The event marks the third year that omanoil has joined forces with the Sultanate’s leading environmental awards to advocate the development of innovative solutions for the preservation of natural resources.
On the occasion, omanoil’s General Manager of Corporate Affairs, HR & Administration, Procurement and HSSE, Engr. Faisal Abdulaziz Al Shanfari, said, “We care beyond fueling and our support and commitment is an extension of our Health, Safety, Security and Environment philosophy. Oman Green Awards is a hub for likeminded people to share knowledge for greater developments in the field of environmental conservation. Together, we can further instill the value of proactive behavior among the community for the responsible consumption of our resources.”
omanoil shares the nation’s vision for a greener and sustainable Oman for generations to come, and continuously assesses areas of its operations for further improvement. Among the company’s environmentally-friendly measures are paper recycling facilities at its offices, leak detection systems and double-wall, fiberglass-reinforced plastic tanks at its filling stations to ensure timely responses to identifiable problems. In addition, aluminum road transport tankers reduce fuel intake while LED lights at its forecourts cut power consumption by over 40%. Furthermore, omanoil’s Mina Al Fahal refinery features an ambient air monitoring system to measure emission levels and meet air quality standards.
