Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) has joined hands with the national movement to challenge road accidents at the second Traffic Safety Expo by addressing the impact of calamities on the Omani society in an innovative campaign that explores the golden-age of communicating. The company’s sponsorship of the committed initiative by the Royal Oman Police follows a string of steadfast road safety programs that omanoil has employed in its capacity as an advocate of best practices both inside and outside the work place.
omanoil’s markedly pioneering safety education practices are showcased with the debut of a Facebook page that will incite messages of safety in support of this year’s expo. “We needed to address the Omani youth and in doing so, have to speak the language of social media which today has revolutionized the way we engage with the public. We have created a dialogue in an authentic online experience that does not force the concept of road safety, but inspires it in a call to action, where we hope responsibility and resolve will be instilled among individuals who can become emissaries for safety and contribute to society,” said General Manager of Operations, Engineering and HSSE, Faisal Al Shanfari.
He continued to say, “There is no one-stop solution for road accidents, the problem cannot be solved in days but we need to change the attitudes and nonchalance mentality towards traffic safety, which will take the combined national efforts that include all members of society communicating the concept of safety. Therefore, omanoil’s agenda is to give people voices with the Facebook page as the beginning of such platforms.”
omanoil promotes a safer driving environment through the company’s hallmark “BeSafe” campaign that takes advantage of effective and unique mediums to improve understanding amongst key players and stakeholders of how technological advancements and best practices can contribute to accident reduction and encourage the sustainable development of responsible behaviors towards road usage. Informative pamphlets are being distributed to commuters at key omanoil filling stations across the Sultanate with driving safety tips that can be easily adopted both during the re-fueling process and after they leave the station.
