In an unprecedented event, Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil), awarded an exclusive basmaCard worth a tanker full of fuel to the grand prize winner of the latest basma promotion during a ceremony attended by Eng. Omar Ahmed Qatan, omanoil’s CEO, at Qurum filling station.
The basmaCard which can be utilized as a pre-paid fuel card allows customers to budget fuel expenditure whilst saving basmaPoints. The pre-charged card with an amount equivalent to 36,000 liters of fuel was awarded to Khalid Khalifa Al Rajhi, which will provide an average motorist with fuel for a number of years.
On the occasion, Srinivas Laxman, Country Manager - Fuel Cards at omanoil expressed, “With our pioneering basma Rewards Program, we focus on introducing the most innovative promotions with tangible impacts and long-term benefits. This promotion is another reflection of our continued promise to our loyal customers and means of rewarding them for their patronage.”

The promotion which began during Muscat Festival utilizes the Company’s unique loyalty scheme. With every 5 Rials of fuel spent at any of omanoil’s widespread network of filling stations, customers are electronically registered and become eligible to win the vast supply of fuel. Basma Card holders were also eligible to win exclusive Gold basmaCards that double in points after reaching a specific amount during the Festival period.
The basma Rewards program is the Sultanate’s first chip based multi-partner rewards program pioneered by omanoil and BankMuscat in association with Nawras and Lulu Hypermarkets. The four partner program helps shoppers ‘save as they spend’ while adding more benefits and privileges on a daily basis. The program allows customers to instantly redeem their basma points with instant rewards, wherever and whenever they like. With real monetary value, basma points serve as cash, as they can be accumulated over an amount of time and allows users to make full or partial purchases.
The basmaCard system and commercial outreach covers a wide spectrum of industries, as it is available at various outlets across the country, including car sales and services companies, jewelry stores, fashion outlets, restaurants, travel agents and hotels.
