Oman Oil Marketing Company SAOG (OOMCO) featured as the chief sponsor at the European Business Persons Group held recently at the Radisson SAS hotel. Paul Phillips, Retail Manager at Oman Oil Marketing Company, took the audience through the Company’s recent history, its new retail brand – omanoil and the experience the local oil retail company has to offer including the recently introduced market leading fuel card offer with the first regional cross-acceptance being accepted by Emarat in the UAE. The opportunity was taken to announce the latest development in pre-paid cards with ‘Wayak’ which is was designed for small businesses and individuals who want the convenience of a fuel card and wish to budget carefully.
The European Business Persons Group is an event held for the European business community based here in the Muscat Region. Convening on a bi-monthly basis the gathering gives European Expatriates a networking opportunity and a chance to meet peers and their partners in a relatively informal manner.
Speaking before the event, Phillips explained the purpose of taking part in the evening. “It’s important for us at this stage to keep pushing the Company name, the initial launch period may have passed, but the entire re-branding process isn’t complete until omanoil has become a household name with everyone in Oman regonising the modern and distinctive logo.”
Giving an upbeat, lively and interactive presentation, Phillips was keen to ensure that the message about the new 100% Omani owned company was clear ‘a Local Company with International standards”.
Although many present were familiar with the new vibrant green, blue and platinum colours of omanoil, Phillips went on to explain the processes that lead to the design of the logo and what the Company, under its new name would mean for the consumer.
“Opportunities like these to present to a wider audience demonstrate our support to the business community. We are now a 100% owned Omani company; however, we are in a position to share with our customers and business partners’ the experience and strength gleaned from over 40 years local operation as part of a global company. It’s important for the business community - Omani and expatriate - to see we remain a key player who is committed to developing Oman with 100% of its profits being paid to the Omani shareholders as dividend or re-invested in the Omani economy”.
“As an insider, it’s easy for us to assume that even 5 months on as OOMCO – everyone knows who we are: communication is key and we have to keep reminding people as to who we are, what additional benefits there are from working with us and what omanoil can do for them.”
