Oman International Bank (OIB) and Oman Oil Marketing Company SAOG (OOMCO) have signed an agreement for acceptance of Debit / Credit cards at omanoil filling stations. The signing ceremony was held on 8th May 2004. John Carlough, CEO of OIB and Mike Wilson, Managing Director of OOCMO signed the agreement on behalf of the respective organisations. Under this arrangement all Visa, MasterCard and Visa Electron cards will be accepted for payment at omanoil petrol stations.
OIB is the leading cards acquirer in the country with a network of over 1,400 POS terminals. OOMCO (formerly BP Oman) is one of the leading fuel services provider in Oman. OOMCO has many of its omanoil filling stations in strategic locations and has launched many convenience shops. To begin with the cards are being accepted at 3 omanoil petrol stations in Ghalla, Ghobra beach side and Wadi Bahais and the facility will be enabled at many more omanoil petrol stations in the near future.
